Jayne Craddock, aka The Grandma

My name is Jayne Easley Craddock, but I write my children's books under the pseudonym The Grandma.

I spent years photographing and writing about my home state as Jayne Craddock at tennesseetourist.com, “Where Your Adventure Begins.” Those miles of Tennessee roads taught me how to notice small wonders and tell them plainly.

The adventures of Little Dog and Miss Kitty (The Tailless Cat) came from stories I told my youngest granddaughter, Emily. Em was born with a very rare kidney disease. I would try to give her mother a much-needed break, so I would tell baby Em stories. They were more to calm me and entertain me while we rocked or napped as she went through the lengthy process of dialysis.

So far I have put two of those stories on paper: Finding Christmas and The Summer Storm, both published by Trilogy Christian Publishing.

I still write in that same rocking-chair voice—short enough for a tired child, warm enough for a worried grown-up, and full of the animals who kept us company when the day felt long.
