Jayne Easley Craddock writes children’s picture books under the name The Grandma. Before the books, she photographed and wrote about Tennessee at tennesseetourist.com. The Little Dog and Miss Kitty stories began as spoken tales for her youngest granddaughter, Emily, who was born with a rare kidney disease. Jayne told them during rocking and napping through a long stretch of dialysis, to give Emily’s mother a rest and to keep the hours gentle.
Two of those stories are now in print from Trilogy Christian Publishing: Finding Christmas and The Summer Storm. Both are written for ages 4–8 and meant to be read aloud.

A Little Dog and Miss Kitty Adventure, Book Two
Grandma and Grandpa help Little Dog and Miss Kitty prepare and stay safe when a thunderstorm turns serious.
“I like this story—of course because it’s about weather, but also because it teaches us something about storms.” — Lisa Spencer, Channel 4 News Chief Meteorologist, on The Summer Storm
Spencer also read an early version of the storm story on camera as “Story Time on the Back Porch.” Watch the reading.
The Grandma (Jayne Craddock) reads from her Little Dog and Miss Kitty picture books, written for children ages 4–8. Finding Christmas asks what Christmas really means. The Summer Storm helps children face thunder with a plan and a safe place. The stories began as comfort tales for her granddaughter during hospital days.
